17. Hot Rod Cafe & Attractions, Kingman, Arizona
Roughly 90 miles separated Kingman from our next destination for the night, Seligman. Our day began with breakfast at the Hot Rod Cafe in Kingman.
The countless car-related photos, and all the “hot rod” memorabilia bedecking the cafe certainly set the mood to continue on our road trip.
On top of that, the food was filling and good.
Before leaving Kingman, we darted about town, visiting the Powerhouse Visitor Center and Route 66 Museum and photographing various attractions,
including the Santa Fe steam locomotive in Locomotive Park across the street from the Powerhouse Visitor Center, the railroad water and fuel tanks,
the signs of the Brunswick and Beale Hotels (both of which were closed and being renovated at the time),
and the sign of the Hilltop Motel (site of Timothy McVeigh’s last night before bombing the Oklahoma Federal Building).
(The vertical neon sign of the El Trovatore Motel can be seen in the background to the right of the Hill Top Motel sign.)
Onward toward Seligman!
