24. Seligman & Ash Fork Arizona Route 66
In the morning, I photographed the outside of Route 66 Motel in Seligman, Arizona, and we crossed the street for breakfast at the German Westside Lilo’s Cafe.

…
Only forty-two miles separated Seligman from our next destination for the night, Williams. On the way out of Seligman, we drove past a handful of sets of Burma-Shave signs. (See Post 19 for more information about Burma-Shave Signs.) Here are a couple:

Five miles before reaching the town of Ash Fork, about 18 miles past Seligman, we ended the 159-mile continuous stretch of extant Arizona Historic Route 66. We dipped into Ash Fork, “Flagstone Capital of U.S.A.” :

We drove into town just enough to photograph the DeSoto Salon and the 1960s purple and white Chrysler Desoto parked on its roof. The building is a repurposed 1950s Texaco Gas Station. Adjacent to the salon a pink and blue stuccoed brick building with a stepped parapet houses the Route 66 Grill.

Our next stop for the night: Williams, Arizona. But first, the Grand Canyon!
